The Department of Painting in Dayanand College was inaugurated in 1956. Post-graduate education in the college started in 1964, after 1978 the painting department was made separate. The painting department of Dayanand Mahavidyalaya is the first art department of Rajasthan and the second art department of India, but is currently known for water color painting.

Presently this department is working in all the methods of Nervanattam, which also includes work in oil paint, mixed media and graphic. Apart from this, apart from the syllabus, the student is also given information about all the interests.
Students of Dayanand College have been securing places in State National, International and other competitions. Currently, the painting department has secured first position in the competition organized by Marwari Mahila National Conference and second position in the national competition. To pray for good rains, the department organises Rangmalhar at international level every year.
