The Department of Political Science in Dayanand College was started in 1945. Dattatreya Wable was the first head of the Department of Political Science from 1945 to 1971.
Were His contribution in the establishment and development of the college has been commendable. At present, Dr. Rafiq Khan is the head of the Department of Political Science. In 2003, Dr. Rafiq Khan was appointed as the lecturer and in 2011, Dr. Rafiq Khan was made the department head. He is also active as a member of the Council of All India Political Department.
