At Dayanand College, the central library forms the backbone to all academic activities of Agriculture, Arts, Commerce, Science and Physical education faculty for the benefit of students. The college library has more than 2.4 lac books (Approx.) and journals duly preserved in open shelves in the access of each and every student is something the college takes great pride. Since the inception of the college library, it has a Book Bank which facilities the student’s to borrow books from the bank by nominal charges for maintenance of the books. The library also provides facility of photocopying for the students at subsidized rates.
Book Exchange Department
- Registration of readers/students in the library.
- Issuance of lost reader-sheet.
- After receiving information about the lost reader-sheet and issuing another one as per the rules.
- Reservation of books
- Giving No Dues to students.
- Providing syllabus and previous years' university question papers etc.
- Statistics of issue books.
- Issuing books to students on their reader cards.
- Getting a new copy of a lost or damaged book or depositing the prescribed price.
- There is a counter on the left side in front of this counter where you can keep your personal books etc. with 'tokens'.
Reading room
Daily, weekly, fortnightly and monthly newspapers and magazines in Hindi, English and other languages are available here. Students can use the newspapers and magazines here for general interest, entertainment and daily news.
Main collection room
Most of the library activities take place here. Books of various subjects are kept safe in open racks on the basis of technical arrangement keeping in mind the convenience of the students. For the special convenience of students, books on various subjects have been divided into two parts, Hindi and English.
Textbook and Book-Bank Department
A huge room on the left side connected to the main collection room is for textbooks and book bank. There is complete arrangement for students to study while sitting. Along with this, there is a book bank arrangement in this room, in which many copies of different authors on every subject are available. From here, books are 'issued' to the students for the entire session on certain conditions. This facility is provided to deserving, meritorious and economically weak students.
Reference department
Its huge and rare collection is priceless. Various encyclopedias, encyclopedias, directories, yearbooks, charts, books related to art and about 35,000 books related to higher studies on other subjects are stored in it. There is a special arrangement in this department for the preparation of various competitive examinations and for the selection of professions, under which books and magazines related to competitive examinations are available here. Employment related information is also made available.
Current affairs department
Our periodicals collect 115 magazines from different countries and abroad. It includes important current affairs related to science, agriculture, technology, sociology and art and literature. We make every possible effort to include current affairs of every subject and to represent the current affairs of every subject as per the prevailing situation
Key rules
- Membership – Every student of the college will get the admit card by depositing the required prescribed fee in the office. He will take them and get the admit card signed by the librarian and present it at the library counter for registration.
- Reader's Leaflet - After registration, reader's leaf will be issued to the students as per the requirement.

- Issuance of reader leaflets and books –
- The reader's card is non-transferable. These are given to readers for one session only. Information about their destruction or loss should be given to the library in writing immediately. Second reader's booklet will not normally be given. But in special circumstances, it will be available on depositing fifty rupees per sheet after 10 days.
- The entire responsibility of a book issued on a reader's card rests with its holder. Therefore, students should keep it safe with utmost care. The library staff can only assist the student by being careful in this regard.
- It is mandatory for every student to put his/her passport size photograph on the reader's card.
- Students can get their related books issued on their reader cards for 14 days.
- On returning the book after the stipulated period, an additional fee of Re 1 per day will be charged. This book is collected in the bank.
- Tearing, folding the pages of a book and writing anything on them is a punishable offence.
- If any student is caught tearing pages of a book, he will be charged double the price of the book and a financial penalty of Rs 100 and can also be expelled from the college.
- If a student is caught stealing a book, he will be charged double the price of the book and a financial penalty of Rs 100 and can be expelled from the college.
- If required, the student can reserve a book.

- In case of loss or damage to a book worth Rs 100 or less, the minimum price of the book will be considered to be Rs 100 only.
- Information related to library services and necessary for the students will be posted on the library notice board from time to time, which will be acceptable to the students.
- In case of loss of token, Rs 50 will have to be deposited. The entire credit for the well-organized system and efficient operation of the library goes to its qualified, efficient and experienced employees.
