Celebration on Biological Diversity Day.
Earth's existence is biodiversity
International Biopersity Day was celebrated on 22 May 2024 by the Department of Zoology under the aegis of Nature Club at Dayanand Mahavidyalaya, Ajmer. The chief guest of the program was Dr. Dinesh Arora, Professor and Director A.R.S.S. Tabiji. Vice Principal Dr. MK Singh welcomed the chief guest by giving him a plant.
Chief guest Dr. Dinesh Arora, in his address through a PowerPoint presentation, said that it is necessary to conserve this persity found on the earth. Today, the use of pesticides and chemicals is reducing the fertility of the soil, due to which the micronutrients found in the soil are getting depleted. He also said that the growing water hyacinth in Ana Sagar is the inflow of heavy metals found in its water, due to which not only vegetation but also animals are getting destroyed. Biopersity is not only necessary for the existence of the earth, but it also provides many essential things for all of us humans.
In his address, Vice Principal Dr. MK Singh said that various components of biopersity also control environmental pollution on this earth. If the persity of fauna and flora is endangered, then human life will also be in danger.
Department Head Dr. Sonia Joseph said that Nature Club keeps organizing awareness programs from time to time. She said that biopersity is of three types: genetic, species and ecological. Erosion of biopersity can be the result of various activities done by nature and humans.
